Electromechanical Eyelid Cleanse Therapy
Introduction
During this therapy, an electromechanical lid margin debridement device is used to clean the eyelids. Patients with blepharitis are good candidates for such treatment.
Blepharitis refers to inflammation of the eyelids characterized by eye discomfort, swollen and crusty eyelids with the appearance of dandruff-scales around the eyes.
Patient Criteria
- Watery or dry eyes
- Discomfort and red eyes
- Gritty and burning sensation of the eyes
- Sticky and itchy eyelids
- Red, swollen eyelids
- Flaky skin around the eyes
Patient’s Criteria
- Crusted eyelashes upon waking up
- Frequent blinking of the eyes
- Sensitivity to light
- Misdirected and abnormal growth of eyelashes
- Loss of eyelashes
